Sold Out

WEDNESDAY 23rd OCTOBER

10.30am - 4.30pm

Learn how to grind, sieve and muller raw ochre pigment to make watercolour paints and inks for printing in this one-day workshop with printmaker Nichola Goff at The Yard Print Studio.

Ochre is a naturally occurring pigment found in earth rich in ferric oxide. The Forest of Dean is one of these places and artist / printmaker Nichola Goff has been collecting and using these pigments in her work.

Earth pigments produce beautifully rich tones ranging through yellow to red and are relatively simple to process.

In this workshop you will learn about processing earth pigments from a raw material into a fine powdered pigment that can then be used to produce inks and paints. As part of the workshop participants will also learn simple monoprinting techniques to experiment with the earth pigments as relief printing inks.

Participants will take home a set of unique prints as well as a small set of watercolour paints and ink that they have made themselves.

Nichola Goff is a multi-disciplinary printmaker based in the Forest of Dean. Nichola works with print, photography, installation and social engagement to explore the themes in her practice; connection to place, ecology and social justice.
