Learn how to make drypoint prints with chine collé on this one-day course.

In a small group setting with print tutor Nichola Goff, you will learn the basics of the drypoint process from design, making a drypoint plate, registering your print and using the etching press to produce unique hand-made intaglio prints.

You will also learn how to add colour to your prints using the chine collé technique. Chine collé is a method of incorporating light weight papers such as coloured tissue or cut-outs from newspapers to a print allowing for a wide scope of added possibilities to just one printing plate.

You will produce:

  • A small set of hand-made intaglio drypoint prints

You will learn:

  • What kind of marks can be created from a drypoint plate

  • How to prepare a drypoint plate and use a variety of tools to make marks that can then be inked and printed 

  • How to ink up a drypoint plate

  • How to embed chine collé papers into a print to create multi-colour prints

  • How to use the etching Press for intaglio printing

This course also works as an induction to the print workshop for anyone who wants to use open access for intaglio printing and those who want to refresh their skills.
